David Olin Tarbutton

Born August 9, 1947

David Olin Tarbutton, age 70, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home, while surrounded by his family, on Saturday, September 16, 2017.

A native Delawarean, David was born in Wilmington on August 9, 1947, and was the son of the late Roland and Doris (Williams) Tarbutton. He made his career as a machinist, retiring from the Container Corporation in Aston, PA, after 40 years of dedicated service.

David was a longtime member of the TAC Club and the Police, Fire, Rod & Gun Club. He enjoyed boating, playing shuffleboard, fishing, and visiting casinos. Most of all, David was a loving and devoted family man who will be dearly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy V. (Gray) Tarbutton; children, David Rodney Tarbutton (Adrianne Kerr), Mike Edward Tarbutton and Kate Durnan; stepchildren, Debbie Rapp (Gregory) and Larry Krawczak (Betty Jean); brothers, Sonny, Merideth, and Jimmy; sisters, Marie, Helen, and Doris; and grandchildren, David Owen Tarbutton and Lucas and Isabel Durnan.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 1:00 pm until 2:30 pm on Wednesday afternoon, September 20, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 2:30 pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read’s Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
