David Ray Lawson, Sr.
Mr. David Ray Lawson, Sr., age 63, of Bear, DE, passed away on Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Christiana Hospital.
Mr. Lawson was born in Galax, VA, on October 19, 1947, son of the late Avis Lawson and Ellen White Lawson. As a young man, he proudly served his country in the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. In civilian life, he made his career with Comcast, where he had 35 years of dedicated service.
In his leisure hours, Mr. Lawson greatly enjoyed listening to country music and taking trips to Wildwood, NJ. Most of all, he delighted in spending time with his beloved wife, his children, his grandchildren, and his many friends, all of whom were very important to him.
He is survived by his wife, Trudy Tims Lawson; children, David R. Lawson, Jr. (Cyndi), James M. Lawson, Sr. (Tina), and Jessica C. Camponelli (Guido); sisters, Jeanie Watson (Joe), Kathy Murray, and Bonnie Aro (Rick); 7 grandchildren; and many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Donald A. Lawson.
A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Thursday, May 5, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 9:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
