David T. Hoy, Jr.

David T. Hoy, Jr., age 57, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Thursday, July 3, 2014.

Born in Pennsylvania on July 31, 1956, David was the son of David T. Hoy, Sr. and Edna I. Lafferty Hoy. A talented mechanic by trade, he owned and operated Hoy’s Penn Jersey for 30 years.

David was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and loved riding and working on bikes of all kinds. In his leisure time, he enjoyed boating and fishing. David was happiest in the company of his beloved family, especially his grandsons, whom he adored.

He was preceded in death by his father, David, Sr. and his good friend, Ivor Ricky Cook. David is survived by his mother, Edna; daughters, Melissa Macolley (Bruce III) of Dover and Ashlee Shea (Joshua E.) of New Castle; aunt, Helene Hoy Wiley; cousin, Darlene Wiley; 3 grandchildren, Bruce D. Macolley IV, Joshua Tyler Shea and Jake Z. Macolley; and his faithful canine companion, Storm.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday morning, July 9, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am. Entombment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

David’s fellow riders are encouraged to safely travel with the funeral procession on their motorcycles to his final resting place.
