Dawn E. Whaley, age 49, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2015.

Born in Wilmington, DE on December 12, 1965, Dawn was a daughter of the late David Whaley and Doris J. Byrd Whaley. She devoted her life to caring for her family and was a talented homemaker.

Outgoing and charismatic, Dawn adored spending time with her friends. She loved dancing and singing and enjoyed visiting local restaurants. Dawn will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her son, Bobby R. Pitts; daughters, Mandi and Marlena Woodard; maternal grandmother, Leathia Wiley, with whom she lived; brother, Charlie Crank; sisters, Shannan Whaley, Michelle Crank, Karen Hall (John) and Teri Ann Stevens (Shawn); 7 nieces, Jordan, Casey, Kalyn, Brooke, Amber, Brittany and Sloan; 3 nephews, J.L., Mason and Samuelle; and her faithful canine companion, Sheldon.

A celebration of life will be held 6:30 pm on Thursday, February 5, 2015 at the Faith City Family Church, 179 Stanton Christiana Road, Newark, DE. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dawn Whaley Memorial Fund, in care of Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720.
