Dennis D. Dischler, Sr.

Dennis D. Dischler, Sr., age 72, of Delaware City, DE, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2015.

Born in Jersey City, NJ on November 12, 1942, Dennis was the son of the late Alfonse S. and Hazel Dischler. He owned and operated the former Mr. Steam Carpet Cleaning of Newark for many years, retiring in 2005.

Strong in his faith, Dennis was a former member of Glasgow Baptist Church. He possessed a deep appreciation for music and never passed up the opportunity to sing joyfully along with his favorite tunes. In his leisure time, Dennis enjoyed watching television, movies of all kinds and fishing. He will long be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather who was affectionately called Pop Pop Dish by his beloved grandchildren, who were the apples of his eye.

In addition to his parents, Dennis was preceded in death by his wife, Lisena P. Louise (Ruggiero) Dischler. He is survived by his children, Dennis D. Dischler, Jr. and his wife, Amy of Wilmington, JoAnn Dischler and her significant other, Craig Palmer of Wilmington, Steven A. Dischler of Newark and Bobbi Jo Dischler McLachlan and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Kayla Toole, Chelsey and Cyle Dischler and Sophia and Ryan McLachlan.

A memorial service will be held at 2 pm on Wednesday afternoon, July 29, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 1 pm until 2 pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
