Dennis L. Ford, Sr., age 65, of Wilmington, DE, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2016.

A native Delawarean, Dennis was born in Wilmington on June 3, 1950 and was a son of the late William Ford, Jr. and Olive E. (Heller) Ford. He made his career as a maintenance technician with Westover Companies in King of Prussia, PA, retiring after many years of dedicated service.

An avid NASCAR fan, Dennis looked forward to each racing season and enjoyed following the sport. He adored spending time with his grandchildren, whom he cherished. Thoughtful and giving, Dennis had a heart of gold and always put others before himself. Although he was not the type of man to show affection, his family and friends always knew how much he loved them.

Dennis is survived by his sons, Jonathan Ford of New Castle, DE, David Ford and Dennis Ford, Jr.; daughter, Dawn Ford; brothers, William Ford III and Thomas Ford; sisters, Jacqueline Fleming and Sandra Miller; and grandchildren, Mackenzie and Landon E. Ford.

A memorial service will be held at 4 pm on Friday afternoon, April 29, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will be held privately.

  • I never did get the chance to meet u but I have heard a lot of awesome stories about u and i’ve always thought man he is cool. May u Rip Uncle Dennis love u.

  • Dennis was a funny guy. We shared our love of racing and both pulled for Dale Jr. He would call after each race with a funny comment. Jonathan he loved you so much and spoke of you and your family each time he called. I know you will miss him. RIP Dennis, you made it to the finish line.
