Dr. Dennis R. Mertz, age 63, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2016.

Born in Trexlertown, PA on July 3, 1953, Dr. Mertz was a son of the late Charles and Minerva (Merkel) Mertz. He served as a Professor of Civil Engineering at the University of Delaware for twenty-five years. He was a member of the United Church of Christ.

Dr. Mertz is survived by his wife, Madelyn J. (Jablon) Mertz; and brother, Richard Mertz and sister-in-law, Ann of Allentown, PA.

A graveside service and interment were held privately in the Epworth United Methodist Church Cemetery, Rehoboth Beach, DE. A memorial service will be held at the University of Delaware in the near future.
