Donald J. King, age 79, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, April 6, 2015.

Born in Cannan, VT on September 3, 1935, Donald was the son of the late Joseph N. King and Tresse Gibbs King. He made his career as a production worker with the Electric Hose and Rubber Company in Wilmington and would later accept a position with Curtis Paper in Newark.

A true handyman, Donald was exceptionally gifted at fixing anything mechanical. He enjoyed working around the house, yardwork and gardening. He was a perfectionist and made it his mission to complete whatever he was working on to the best of his ability. In his leisure time, Donald enjoyed playing horseshoes and league bowling. He was happiest in the company of his beloved family and will be dearly missed by all.

Donald is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Pauline (Carroll) King; children, Debra J. Bielicki (John) of New Castle, DE, Diane M. Carter (Bobby, Jr.) of Elkton, MD and Bill J. King of Middletown, DE; sister, Thelma Gingrass of Seymore, CT; 9 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Thursday morning, April 9, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center & Research Institute, 4701 Ogletown-Stanton Road, Newark, DE 19713.
