Donna M. Dresh, age 81, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 14, 2016.

Born in Longview, WA on January 9, 1935, Donna was a daughter of the late Wesley and Bernice (Davis) Shambow. In addition to raising her family, she worked for Continental American Life Insurance Company in Wilmington and Newark for many years. Donna would later return to Longview with her husband, where she accepted a position with Elder Options as a caregiver for aging adults.

She enjoyed bowling and playing cards in her spare time. An avid Philadelphia Phillies and NASCAR fan, Donna was a passionate supporter of both sports. She adored spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Donna will be very dearly missed by all who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Richard F. Dresh and daughter, Janet Bakko. Donna is survived by her children, Lisa Stapleford (Kenneth) of New Castle, Linda Piroli (Richard) of Claymont, Diane Murray of Longview, WA and Lee Abraham (Becky) of Longview, WA; brother, Ken McCool of Rainier, OR; sister, Joyce Shambow of Coquille, OR: 11 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Tuesday morning, March 22, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Donna’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the SPCA, P.O. Box 6067, Stanton, DE 19804.
