Doris M. (Duff) Roberts, age 83, of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 13, 2016.
Born in Earleville, MD on August 31, 1932, Doris was a daughter of the late Thomas and Reba (Walls) Duff. She worked for the Christina School District for a number of years, in addition to raising her family.
Doris was truly happy in the company of her loved ones. She looked forward to family gatherings, spending time with her grandchildren and absolutely adored her grand dogs. A fabulous cook, Doris relished in creating delicious home-cooked meals. She was an avid gardener and in her leisure time enjoyed quilting, taking occasional trips across the country and visiting the beach. Above all else, Doris will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother and will be very dearly missed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Nancy and Catherine. Doris is survived by her husband of 60 years, Stuart W. Roberts; children, Denise Byers (Michael) of West Grove, PA, Cora White (David) of Wilmington, DE, Stuart Roberts (Nicole) of Kennett Square, PA, Arlene Donnell (Marvin) of Zuni, VA, Kristal Roberts of Motley, MN and Mark Roberts (Holly) of Middletown, DE; brother, Thomas C. Duff (Margaret) of Cecilton, MD; sister, Emma Mae Saunders of Earleville, MD; 10 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Monday morning, January 18, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Ebenezer Cemetery, 525 Polly Drummond Hill Road, Newark, DE.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center c/o Christiana Care, P.O. Box 1668, Wilmington, DE 19899.
