Born March 30, 1923

Dorothy (Deren) Bachmura, age 92, of Elkton, MD and formerly of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 4, 2015.

Born in Plymouth, PA on March 30, 1923, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Michael Deren and Mary (Mikus) Deren. She devoted her life to caring for her family and was a talented homemaker.

A devout Catholic, Dorothy was a longtime parishioner of St. Hedwig’s R.C. Church where she was active in the Holy Rosary Sodality and also a member of the former St. Stanislaus Kostka Bishop and Martyr Society. Most recently, she was a member of St. Paul’s R.C. Church in Delaware City where she faithfully attended mass with her son and daughter-in-law. In her leisure time, Dorothy was an accomplished knitter who enjoyed creating beautiful handmade afghans and was also a skilled gardener.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Stanley F. Bachmura, Sr. Dorothy is survived by her son, Stanley F. Bachmura, Jr. and wife, Joann of Bear, DE; and grandsons, Mark and Adam Gimbl.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Thursday morning, October 8, 2015, at St. Paul’s R.C. Church, 209 Washington Street, Delaware City, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Entombment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery, 2400 Lancaster Ave., Wilmington, DE

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Dorothy’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s R.C. Church, P.O. Box 544, Delaware City, DE 19706.
