Dorothy Frances “Dot” Megginson

April 13, 1934 - September 9, 2017

Dorothy Frances Dot Megginson, age 83, of Clayton, DE, passed away peacefully in her home with her family by her side on Saturday, September 9, 2017.

Born in Wilmington, DE on April 13, 1934, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Dorothy (Bush) Andrews. As a young girl, Mrs. Megginson worked in a gunpowder mill during WWII and later retired from the Delaware State Hospital.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Theodore K. Megginson, Sr.; sister, Mary Harter; and brothers, Bucky, Pauley, Edwin, Sr., and Charles, Jr.  Mrs. Megginson is survived by her son, Theodore K. Megginson, Jr.  (Sherry); daughters, Kathy A. Collins (Steve), Dorothy B. Rettinger (Rick), and Crystal L. Hamlett (Rob); siblings, Grace Graham, Annabelle Scites, and George Andrews; 9 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 am until 12 Noon on Wednesday, September 13, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Megginson’s memory may be made to Delaware Hospice, 911 S. DuPont Highway, Dover, DE 19901.
