Dorothy M. Schlickenmaier

Born September 27, 1920

Dorothy M. Schlickenmaier, age 93, of Wilmington, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 26, 2013, at Seasons Hospice at Christiana Hospital.
She was born in Baltimore, MD on September 27, 1920, and was the daughter of the late Anna Marie Plock and William Eskridge. Her mother passed away when she was just 28 days old, and she was raised by her grandmother.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John A. Schlickenmaier, and a grandson, Stacy Michael Connelly. She is survived by her daughters, Katherine A. Young (Phillip) of Newark, DE and Jacqueline M. Frazen of Austin, TX; 6 grandchildren, Karen E. Hofmann (Luke) of San Antonio, TX, Jody L. Young (Diane) of Olmito, TX, Eric R. Young, Heather Hawkins (Ryan), Shane Connelly, and Jennie Frazen, all of Austin, TX; and 13 great grandchildren, Madison, Emily, Jamin, and Shelby Hofmann, Gracie, Annie, and Jack Young, Parker and Owen Hawkins, Hunter and Ethan Connelly, Zenen Delgado, and Angel Guerro.
Services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family in Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio, TX.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the St. Philip’s Lutheran Church Building Fund, 4501 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.

  • HI Kathy and Jackie, I lived next door to your parents in Binns. I remember you babysitting for us Cunningham children. That was fun.
    But as a newly married, very young mother, I moved back into the house and was their neighbor before they moved away. Now that I look back, I think that your parents did not understand us and our silliness. But both your mother and father were kind to us. Your father always had some time to listen to my husband’s problems and offer some guidance. And your mother was always excited to see the kids and admire a new baby. It was a stressful time and I am so grateful for their patience and caring.
    Wasn’t the dog named Prince?
    I am so sorry for your loss, your mother was a sweet person.
