Duncan M. Beatson

Duncan M. Beatson, age 94, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Tuesday, July 14, 2015.

A native Delawarean, Mr. Beatson was born in Wilmington on April 4, 1921, and was a son of the late John Beatson and Florence (Kilpatrick) Beatson. He was a proud U.S. Army veteran of WWII, who bravely served in the Asiatic- Pacific campaign and the European, African and Middle Eastern theaters. Mr. Beatson was a dedicated 30 year employee of General Motors, retiring in 1980.

Strong in his faith, he was a longtime member of the Free Will Baptist Church in New Castle. Mr. Beatson was happiest in the company of his beloved family and especially loved spending time with them at the beach. He will be very dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Alma A. Beatson, who passed away in 2003; 1 sister; and 3 brothers. Mr. Beatson is survived by his children, James F. Beatson (Michelle) of Georgia, Larry P. Beatson of Florida, Michael A. Beatson (Debra) of Pennsylvania and Sharon A. Tabor of Delaware; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday morning, July 22, 2015 at the Free Will Baptist Church, 409 Moores Lane, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11 am. Interment will be held privately in Gracelawn Memorial Park, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Heartland Hospice, 256 Chapman Rd., Ste. 102, Newark, DE 19702.
