Earl C. Williams
Earl C. Williams, known fondly as Cy, age 82, of New Castle, DE, passed away on Friday, January 27, 2012.
A native Delawarean, Mr. Williams was born in New Castle on September 30, 1929, son of the late Katherine and Lance Williams. He was a drywall finisher by profession and had been employed with several local firms during his career, including Hessler Sign and Painting, Edjil Drywall, Contractors of Delaware, and lastly Drywall Associates, where he retired.
Active in his community, Mr. Williams was a 6o-year Life Member of the Minquadale Fire Company and a past member of Joseph B. Stahl Post #30, American Legion in New Castle. He enjoyed a variety of pastimes, particularly bowling, golfing, fishing for crappie, and cheering each season for his favorite team, the Phillies. He also enjoyed visits to Delaware Park for both horse racing and casino gaming. Most of all, he will be remembered as a devoted father and family man who cherished especially time spent with his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Cheryl Mohr and husband Bill of New Castle, Thomas Williams and wife Kathy of Crofton, MD, George Williams and Gail Williams of New Castle; brothers, Edward Williams and wife Kathy of New Castle, Samuel Williams and wife Mary of Wilmington, and John Merritt Williams of New Castle; sisters, Gertrude Bolden and husband Glenn and Katherine Sekscinski of New Castle; grandchildren, Ryan Mohr and wife Stephanie, Chuck Mohr and wife Nikki, Brandon Williams, Michael Williams, Sherry Williams, Tiffany Williams, Ashley Williams, and Thomas Williams, Jr.; and eight great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Jean Graden and Doris Scott.
A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 12 noon.
Following the service, a reception will be held at the Minquadale Fire Department, 129 E. Hazeldell Ave., New Castle.
