Edith B. Warmkessel-Wilson, age 91, of Newark, DE passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, December 24, 2013, when she was called home to be with her Lord.

Born in Claymont, Delaware on March 22, 1922, Edith was the daughter of the late W.W. DeVore and Helen Mae Wiley DeVore. She was an exceptional homemaker and extraordinary cook, who enjoyed tending to her garden, crafting, and creating a cozy home for her loved ones.

Edith was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother who had a warm and nurturing personality. She will be especially missed every Christmas season, as she delighted in decorating her tree, home, and yard and baking her holiday pies and cookies.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Isaac Warmkessel, Wayne Forsythe, and George C. Wilson, as well as her son, William Warmkessel. She leaves to cherish her memory, one daughter, Lynn Ferris; daughter-in-law, Marjorie Warmkessel; 6 grandchildren, Teri Ferris (Margaret), William Ferris (Kimberly), Edith Warmkessel, Debbie DiChara, Dawn Yovino, and George Warmkessel; 3 great-grandchildren, Chelsea, Ashley, and Isaiah; 2 great-great grandchildren, Marcai and Milan; and her step-children, David L. Wilson, Suzanne R. Hayes, and Georgine S. Wagner.

A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday afternoon, December 31, 2013, at The Chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where friends may call from 1 pm until 2 pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Edith’s name may be sent to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675.
