Edward “Ed” Stanley Homer

Edward “Ed” Stanley Homer, age 85, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 25, 2016.
Born in Wilmington, Delaware on June 22, 1930, Ed was a son of the late William and Anna (Garonski) Homer. A lifelong Delawarean, he made a career with DuPont as a machinist, retiring after 42 years of dedicated service. Ed proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
Following his retirement, he and his family opened Just Fish in the Fox Run Shopping Center, where he made many friends throughout the years. Ed was an avid sports fan. In his younger years, including the time he spent serving our country, he enjoyed playing all sports. Fishing and bowling were activities he especially enjoyed. Ed was an active and dedicated member at Holy Angels R.C. Church where he ushered for several years. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and dear friend to many.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his brother, William Homer.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Pierina Alisa “Perry” Homer; son, Michael Homer (Irene); daughter, Carleen Webb (Kevin); brother, Robert Homer; sister, JoAnne Karpinski; nieces, Johnette Bell, Perri Quesenberry, and Donna Cebenka; nephew, John Casey; and 4 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Monday morning, March 7, 2016, at Holy Angels R.C. Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE, where a visitation will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. Burial will be held privately.
