  • Mr. Abbott was the one my mother always took our shoes to, – as well as my maternal Grandfather. He did really seem to enjoy the people who came into his shop. Back then, we had leather shoes that were re-soled or repaired when worn out; they didn’t get thrown away.

  • To The Entire Abbott Family: I wish to express my deepest sympathy for your loss. Ed was not just a neighbor to me, he was my friend. We spent many hours talking to each other about the past and present things we did in our life. He was an awesome and loving man who was good to everyone and well liked by everyone. I will miss him so much. (Rest In Peace My Buddy), I love you and will never forget you. xoxo

  • My sincere condolences to the family of Edward Abbott. May you find comfort in your loving memories and in God’s promise to see our love ones again through the resurrection. (John 5:28,29) With deepest sympathy.

  • My heartfelt condolences to the Abbott family. I was one of the patrons who visited the store in the early seventies, to get shoes repaired. I have great memories of the shoe shop.

  • I’m sorry to hear about your loss and pain and wanted to share the Bible’s hope of a resurrection at John 5:28,29 at a time when there is no more sickness pain or death right here on earth according to Revelation 21:3,4. May the god of comfort give you comfort by means of the scriptures.

  • Condolences to the Abbott family. I lived next door to the shoe shop when I was a student. Phil was a good friend.

  • Please accept my condolences on your loss. I was astounded when I saw the post of Edward Abbott’s death. I guess Bob Tomlinson, who I was married to for 29 years and who was trained in shoe repairing by his Uncle Luke & subsequently worked at Abbott Shoe Repair for many years until Bob opened his business in Pa. But when I saw the photo and read the bio there is no doubt they are related. It was shocking how much they look like each other. I wish I could send you a picture so you can see they could be brothers. Anyway, Bob passed away Nov. 13, 2012 and it feels like only yesterday. His children & family miss him dearly. So I just wanted to get in touch & let your family know I will keep everyone in my prayers during this time of loss.

  • Thoughts and prayers go to the Abbott family. Each of the Abbott brothers were friendly, and gentlemen. So, so sorry for your loss.

  • I’m so sorry to hear Ed passed. My condolences to his family. Ed was a great neighbor. He never minded when my dog would climb the fence between our yards so she could play with his dogs. I missed him when he moved away. Just a a great guy.

  • My family lived in Brookside and Nottingham Green from the 50s through the 70s and there was no other place equal to take shoes to be repaired then Abbotts. You always got the shoes back repaired and polished at a reasonable price and they were good for another wear. My prayer and thoughts are with the family.

  • Hi Ed!!! Want you know that I think about you often and miss you very much. Everything has changed here since you have been gone. Miss the talks we used to have!!! RIP my Buddy!!!
