Edward T. O’Neill

Mr. Edward T. ONeill, age 75, of Middletown, DE, died at home on Wednesday, December 22, 2010, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. ONeill was born in Fairview, NJ, on October 23, 1935, son of the late Arthur J. ONeill and Christine McAnaney ONeill. As a young man, he proudly served his country in the US Air Force. In civilian life, he was employed for many years with Atlantic Aviation before accepting a position with the DuPont Company, where he retired as a foreman after 20 years of service.

During his leisure hours, Mr. ONeill greatly enjoyed fishing, gambling at Delaware Park, reading, and cheering for his favorite teams, the Phillies and the Eagles. Mr. ONeill always had a variety of projects he was working on around his home; he was a master at fixing anything that might need repair. He loved working and cleaning up his garage, planting flowers, and working in his yard. His favorite pastime was surf fishing in the Outer Banks.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Patricia A. Lurvey ONeill; daughters, Theresa A. Debbrecht (Ronald), Debra L. Drueding (Robert), and Margaret S. Roberts, all of Middletown, DE; brothers, Arthur J. ONeill (Catherine) of Wilmington, DE, and William M. ONeill of Elkton, MD; sister, Mary Zawaski of Upper Chichester, PA; and grandchildren, Patrick Wears, Bryan Debbrecht, Kevin and Caitlin Drueding, and Brianna and CJ Roberts.

Visitation will be held from 11 am to 12 noon on Monday, December 27, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 12:30 pm at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will be in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
