Edwin T. Park
Mr. Edwin T. Park, born on October 6, 1928, lived to be 82 years old. He died peacefully on September 15, 2011, at his home in New Castle, DE, surrounded by his loved ones.
Edwin proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was honorably discharged after his tour of duty. Following their marriage in 1956, he and his beloved wife, Marie, made their home in Delaware, where, in 1957, he accepted a position with the Diamond State Telephone Company. He retired in 1985 as a manager in the engineering department. During his career, he was an active member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Edwins many hobbies included hunting, fishing, bowling, and camping. He also loved his garden in the summertime.
Though he suffered from health problems for many years, Edwin gave his all to the very end. He will always remain an inspiration to the many people who loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Florence and Chester Park, and siblings, Paul Park, Betty Stever, and Helen Glunt. He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Marie A. Crotsley Park; his children, Ronald S. Park (Julie Engrav), Jeanne M. Park, Cynthia A. Park (Alfred Lance Mortimer), and Irwin D. Park (Dawn Fort), all of New Castle, DE; his grandchildren who were the apple of his eye, Heather T. Park of PA, Scott E. Park of NJ, Justin D. Park of NJ, and Eugene W.T. Park of New Castle, DE; siblings, Mary Quarry of Mapleton, PA, Jesse Park of Mapleton Depot, PA, Beatrice Carson of Hagerstown, MD, William Park of Orrstown, PA, Robert Park of Doylestown, PA, Peggy Waite of Mapleton Depot, PA, and Maurice Park of PA; sister-in-law, Barbara Park of Huntington, PA; brother-in-law, John Stever of Altoona, PA; and brother-in-law, Dale Glunt of Shade Gap, PA.
Visitation will be held from 6 pm to 8 pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday at the funeral home, where a second visitation will begin at 10 am. Following the funeral service, the family invites everyone to a lunch reception at the Nur Temple Shrine on DuPont Highway.
