Edythe E. Gicker
Born March 13, 1921
Edythe E. Gicker, age 93, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 13, 2014.
Born near Iron Hill, MD on March 13, 1921, Edythe was one of seven children of the late Henry Suppi and Josephine Avagaro Suppi. She devoted her life to caring for her beloved family and was a talented homemaker.
Edythe was a longtime member of the Kirkwood United Methodist/Cornerstone United Methodist Church and a member of the C&D Senior Center. In her leisure time, she enjoyed needlework, ceramics, gardening and spending time talking with friends. Edythe will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor and will be dearly missed by all.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob A. Gicker. Edythe is survived by her children, Barbara L. Schofield, Jacob A. Gicker, Jr. (Diane), Lawrence G. Gicker (Rebecca), Gary C. Gicker (Nancy) and David H. Gicker (Donna); 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 am on Monday morning, December 22, 2014 at the Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 3135 Summit Bridge Road, Bear, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:30 am until 11:30 am. Interment will be private in the Welsh Tract Baptist Cemetery, Newark, DE.
