Eleanor M. Blake
Mrs. Eleanor M. Blake, age 96, of the Methodist Country House in Wilmington, DE, formerly of Delaware City, passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2011, at her residence.
Born in Reading, PA, on April 19, 1914, Mrs. Blake was the daughter of the late Leon Seifert and Sarah Betz Seifert. She made her career with the US Postal Service, working as a clerk in the Delaware City office for over 30 years.
Active in her community, Mrs. Blake was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Delaware City, the Delaware City Recreation Club, and the Caesar Rodney Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star in New Castle.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, F. Russell Blake, in 1987. She is survived by her son, Gerard L. Blake (Emilie) of Smithsburg, MD; daughter, Brenda A. Brady (Robert L.) of Lewes; sister, Jean Bohn of Myerstown, PA; 9 grandchildren; and 14 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 29th, in the Danby Chapel of the Methodist Country House, 4830 Kennett Pike, Wilmington. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
