Eleanor Taylor

January 8, 1936 – October 3, 2017

Eleanor (Havens) Taylor, age 81, of Bear, DE passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017.

Born in  Crystal, WV on January 8, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Willie and Mamie (Hancock) Havens. Eleanor attended Montcalm High School in Montcalm, WV.

A devoted homemaker, she loved being a wife and mother. Eleanor enjoyed gardening and cooking, especially for family gatherings. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother,  and dear friend to many.

In addition to her parents, Eleanor was preceeded in death by her daughter, Connie S. Murphy; sons-in law, William Murphy, Sr. and James Shahan, Sr.; grandson, Jason Taylor; sisters, Catherine, Ethel and Bertha; and brothers, Robert, Willie, and Ernest. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Garland W. Taylor; children, Sheila K. Summerfield (Kevin, Sr.), Michael L. Taylor (Drema), Cynthia L. Jones, Donna M. Shahan, and Cheryl R. Taylor;  14 grandchildren;  and 20 great grandchildren.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 11:00 am until 12:00 Noon on Wednesday, October 11, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 12:00 Noon. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE 19720.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Eleanor’s memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 92 Read’s Way, Suite 205, New Castle, DE 19720.
