Born February 17, 1930

Elfriede P. Marraffino, age 87, of Wilmington, DE, and formerly of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.

Ellie was born in Rostock, Germany on February 17, 1930, and was a daughter of the late Paul and Ida (Harms) Schülke. She was employed with Avon Products in Newark where she worked as a employee benefits manager, retiring after many years of dedicated service.

A woman of strong faith, Ellie was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Newark. She enjoyed hiking, skiing in Colorado, and swimming at the beach. A beloved wife, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend to many, Ellie will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Michael R. Marraffino. Ellie is survived by her sisters, Greti, Renate, and Erika, all of Rostock, Germany; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Renee and Leonard Marraffino; many nieces and nephews; best friend, Anna Marie Draing; and many more dear friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Wednesday morning, October 4, 2017, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery, 6001 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ellie’s memory may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 701 S. College Avenue, Newark, DE 19711.
