Born July 15, 1933

Elfriede Friede Sutton, age 81, of Middletown, DE, and formerly of Delaware City and Newark, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 17, 2015.

Born in Heidelberg, Germany on July 15, 1933, Elfriede was a daughter of the late Bernhard and Maria Fein. She met her husband, Frederick while he was serving in the U.S. Army in Germany and together, they shared 53 years of marriage. Prior to retirement, Elfriede worked for over 20 years as a cafeteria assistant at the Ogletown Junior High School.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed crocheting and knitting, playing the penny slots at Delaware Park and attending poker nights at local churches and senior centers. Elfriede was an avid Philadelphia sports fan and loved cheering on the Phillies, Eagles and Flyers each season. She will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother and will be dearly missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frederick C. Fred Sutton. She is survived by her son, Frederick C. Sutton, Jr. (Mary Ellen Ruszkay) of Clover, SC; daughter, Christine Salinski (Robert A., Jr.) of Deltona, FL; siblings, Renate Rosteck of Toronto, Canada, Brunhilde Whitney of Sacramento, CA, Bernhard Fein of Germany and Maria Fraessdorf of Altamonte Springs, FL; 3 grandchildren, Jason Salinski of Deltona, FL, Shannon Wendell of Louisville, KY and Amanda Salinski of Deltona, FL; 3 great grandchildren, Sabian and Ashton Wendell and Mallory Salinski; and her adored granddog, Murphy.

A funeral service will be held at 11:30 am on Tuesday morning, March 24, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 214 Clinton Street, Delaware City, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
