Elizabeth Baker West, age 90, of Bear, DE, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2017.
Born in Wilmington, DE on May 31, 1927, Elizabeth was the daughter of the late James A. and Emma (Johnston) Baker. She was a member of the William Penn High School Graduating Class of 1946.
Elizabeth was fondly known as Aunt Libby not only by family, but also by friends and neighbors. She loved traveling, collecting owls, crocheting and was proud to be a native Delawarean. Above all else, Elizabeth enjoyed and loved being with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Harold M. West, Sr., who was the love of her life and her one and only; sister, Louise Baker Brown; brother, James C. Baker; and great grandchildren, Evan Temler and Grayson Giammatteo. Elizabeth is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Harold M. West II and Jane Kelleher West and daughter, Aline West Stant (Dana). She was proud to be the grandmother of Carli West Brumfield (Tyson), Joy Stant (Stephen), Lauren Stant Temler (Keith), Dana Stant Giammatteo (Nick), and John D. Stant II (Michelle). Also very special to her were her great grandchildren, Colleen Collins, Corbin and Avery Brumfield, Lane and Reid Temler, Braden, Isabella, and Jack Giammatteo, and Elizabeth (Lily) Stant.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10:00 am until 11:00 am on Monday morning, November 13, 2017, in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Mary Campbell Center, in memory of Amy Morris, 4641 Weldin Rd., Wilmington, DE 19803.

I am so sorry to hear of Elizabeth Ann’s passing (that’s what I always called her). I am also saddened that I am not able to be there on Monday to share in her celebration of life. She was a great person and we always laughed when we were together. I will always think of her when I wrap myself in the beautiful white blanket she crocheted for me (however, she did say it was for Tommy and not me). But that was Elizabeth Ann. Always an ornery streak!! Please accept my sincere condolences and prayers to the whole family. She did love you all so much as I know you loved her. Dear Harold, Aline, Jane and family, I am so, so sorry to learn of Mrs. West passing . I just heard the news today while attending funeral services for a close family friend. Mrs. West kept it real. She missed her late husband, loved her children, grandchildren and extended family. Her deep roots in the Fairwinds community and her spiritual life meant everything to her.
