Ellen B. Casula, age 79, of New Castle, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 22, 2014.

Ellen was born in Greensboro, Maryland on June 11, 1934, and was a daughter of the late Carl M. Baker and Althea H. Melvin Baker. She made her career as a key punch operator with Custom Computers, retiring after many years of dedicated service.

Ellen was a longtime and active member of the Wilmington Church of the Brethren. In her leisure time, she enjoyed working on her computer and completing challenging crossword puzzles. Ellen was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother who will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you the entire staff at Seasons Hospice In-Patient Unit at Christiana Hospital for the excellent care given to Ellen during her time there.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, C. Melvin Baker and James Baker and a sister, Alice M. Brosch. Ellen is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Martin R. Casula; children, Ronald L. Casula and wife Olga, Timothy R. Casula and wife Dottie, Nancy E. Casula, and Vicki L. Rash and husband Robert; brothers, David G. Baker and wife Barbara and Donald Baker and wife Ginny; sisters, Doris J. Burkett and husband Lee and Clara M. Sakowski and husband Stanley; sister-in-law, Joan Baker; 11 grandchildren, Ashley, Katelyn, Louis, Jessica and TJ Casula, Jack Martin, Genna and Ryker Ferraro, and Robert, Jacob and Michael Rash; and 2 great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Saturday afternoon, April 26, 2014, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where family and friends may call from 12 Noon until 1 pm. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Ellen’s name may be made to the Wilmington Church of the Brethren, 27 Belmont Avenue, Wilmington, DE 19804.

  • So sorry to hear of Ellen’s passing. I remember her well. I will be out of town sat. and won’t be able to attend her services,my prayers are with Don a nd all the family.

  • I’m praying for Don and Ellen’s family at this sad time. Ellen went to our church, Wilmington Church of the Brethren. She was very well liked. Although she is with God now, I know it is hard to lose someone so special. Again, you will all be in my prayers.
