Born August 6, 1959

Elwood C. Kibler, Jr., known fondly as Woody, age 55, of New Castle, DE passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on Saturday, February 7, 2015.

Woody was born in Chester, PA on August 6, 1959, and was a son of the late Elwood C. Kibler, Sr. and Elizabeth A. (Stinson) Kibler. He made his career as a salesperson in the trucking industry and was known for his excellent work ethic and the pride he took in providing for his family.

Active in the volunteer fire community, Woody was a life member of the Upland Fire Company in Upland, PA and a member of the Minquadale Fire Company in New Castle. He was a member and past worthy president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles #74 in Wilmington and a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus. An avid fisherman, Woody was an active member of CASA, the Claymont Anglers and Sportsmen Association. In his leisure time, he enjoyed watching professional wrestling on television and loved singing and dancing. Woody was happiest in the company of his family and friends and will be dearly missed by all.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Kathleen M. Wagner. Woody is survived by his wife of 35 years, Yolanda Mercado Kibler; children, Angela M. Kibler, Kristina M. Kibler and Elwood C. Kibler III; brother, David E. Kibler; sisters, Cheryl A. Thompson and Donna Mae Anderson; 5 grandchildren, Breanna, Austin, Cecilee, Laci and Shyanne; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews; and his many extended family members and friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6 pm until 8 pm on Friday evening, February 13, 2015 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday morning, February 14, 2015, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Seasons Hospice of Delaware, 220 Continental Drive, Ste. 101, Newark, DE 19713.
