Eunice F. Turner Clark

Eunice F. Clark, age 85, of Newark, Delaware, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2013.
Born in Atlanta on May 15, 1928, Mrs. Clark moved to Delaware in 1950. She and her loving husband, William, also an Atlanta native, called Delaware home for more than 62 years. Mrs. Clark worked at the University of Delaware’s College of Urban Affairs for 25 years until her retirement in 1991.
Eunice was an active member of Newark United Methodist Church. As a young mother, she was a troop leader in the Girl Scouts and Brownies. Later, she was a member of New Century Club and a loyal volunteer with the Blood Bank of Delmarva. Eunice and Bill enjoyed the Dickinson organ concerts and performances at the DuPont Playhouse and Three Little Bakers, as well as dinners with friends at the UD Blue and Gold Club and winters in Venice, Florida.
Eunice was a devoted spouse and beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and a good friend to many. She was the consummate hostess who made everyone feel welcome in her home.
She was predeceased by her parents, Bart and Sophie Turner and husband, William H. Clark Sr., sisters Katherine Shattles and Ruby Coffland, and half-brother Joe Turner. She is survived daughter Sharon Alvarez and husband Andy; Linda Graham and husband Don; and son William Jr. and wife Jennie; grandchildren David Graham and wife Casey, Jonathan Graham and wife Carly, Amy Lawton and husband Brent, William K. Clark and Julie Clark; great grandchildren Mason, Blake, Carter and Lillith; sister Barbara Yarbrough, half-brother Bart Turner, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family thanks Millcroft, Christiana Care and Seasons Hospice for their caring support.
A memorial service will be held at 3:30 pm on Friday, December 6, 2013, at the Newark United Methodist Church, 69 East Main Street, Newark, DE, where friends may call from 2:30 pm until 3:30 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Newark United Methodist Church Renewing Our Foundation Building Fund, at the address listed above.

Aunt Eunice was a treasure, a true Southern Lady, and the very epitome of love in action. I will miss the wonderful visits to Delaware to see her and Uncle Bill. I know she and my Mama are laughing so hard right now that Jesus is telling them to settle down. Love you, Aunt Eunice. Buh Bye.

Bill, Linda, Sharon, your mother was a very special lady to Lonnie and I both. We loved her deeply and always loved talking with her. We even had our own nickname for her “Aunt Worrywart” cause she was always worried about everyone else and never herself. Recently, I had to move my 93 year old mother from assisted living to a nursing home and understand the demands placed upon our loved ones in latter life. It was a difficult decision but a necessary one. I truly treasure the many, many, happy times I had with her and my dad.
