Eunice L. Thompson LaBerge

Mrs. Eunice L. Thompson LaBerge, age 75, of New Castle, DE, died peacefully surrounded by her devoted family on Thursday, April 7, 2011, at the home of her daughter, Rose Ann.


Mrs. LaBerge was born in St. Michaels, MD, on March 3, 1936, daughter of the late Harry A. Thompson, Jr. and Edna Connelly. A longtime, active member of the UAW, she was employed with General Motors at the Boxwood Road site until her retirement in 1993. She later accepted a position with New Castle County Headstart where she continued to work for several more years.


Active in her community, Mrs. LaBerge served as president of the Manor Park/Leedom Estates Civic Association for nine years. In her leisure hours, she greatly enjoyed browsing for interesting items and bargains at yard sales around the state. She was also loyal fan of the daytime drama, General Hospital. Most of all, she delighted in spending time with her beloved family and will be long remembered as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother.


She is survived by her husband, Philip R. LaBerge; children, Rose Ann Bransford of New Castle, Rebecca L. Williams of New Castle, Joseph A. Fell (Donna) of New Castle, Ernest M. Fell (fiance, Heidi L. Goodman) of Millersburg, PA, Olivia C. LaBerge of New Castle, David R. LaBerge of Laurence Harbor, NJ, Cheryl A. DePalma (Paul) of Alpharetta, GA, and Brian P. LaBerge of Morgan, NJ; sister, Patricia Durkin (Richard) of Elkton, MD; 17 grandchildren; 50 great grandchildren; and a great great granddaughter. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Harriett Robinson, brother, Harry Thompson, son, Ralph Fell, and daughter, Kathryn Rankin.


A funeral service will be held at 1:30 pm on Monday, April 11, 2011, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 11:30 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle.


In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Delaware Hospice, 3515 Silverside Road, Wilmington, DE 19810.
