Evelyn C. Weston

June 27, 1932 - September 27, 2015

Evelyn C. Weston, age 83, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home while surrounded by her family on Sunday morning, September 27, 2015.

Kentucky born and raised, Evelyn met her husband, Dale, a southern gentleman in 1950 and together they raised a family that included 2 daughters, a son, 10 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She had an unshakeable faith in God which quietly and humbly guided her life. Evelyn had a deep love of music and art and was accomplished at each. She fostered in her children and grandchildren an appreciation for these same interests, as well as a general love of Creation and all that resides within it. Along with her huband, the two served as living examples of the Golden Rule for their family.

Evelyn had a genuine southern gentility, but also the stubborness of her Scottish and Irish ancestors which stood her in good stead through tough times. Music, mostly classical, was always playing in her home. Eveylyn was a mezzo soprano with a beautiful clear singing voice, a lifelong gardener, a talented florist, a business owner, an excellent cook, enjoyed painting with oils in the Grandma Moses style and was a closet animal rescuer. She will be greatly missed.

In addition to her parents, Evelyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Glen Dale Weston. She is survived by her children, Deborah Lynn Galovic (Jerry) of Tampa, FL, James P. Weston (Kathleen S.) of Newark, DE and Margaret Ann Bell (Greg) of Eagle, ID; grandchildren, Michael J. Galovic, Brian S. Galovic, Paul I. Weston, Jacob J. Weston, Megan M. Alfaro, Gabriel J. Weston, Julia C. Weston, Katherine M. Weston, Neil A. Bell and Jeremy A. Bell; and great grandchildren, Skyla Galovic, Liam and Asher Weston and Christopher Alfaro.

Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 am on Thursday morning, October 1, 2015, at St. Mary of the Assumption R.C. Church, 7200 Lancaster Pike, Hockessin, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Evelyn’s memory may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 2527 Berwyn Rd., Wilmington, DE 19810 or Faithful Friends 12 Germay Drive Wilmington, DE 19804.
