Fah Pow Liew

Born September 30, 1960

Fah Pow Liew, age 54, of Bear, DE, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 14, 2015.

Born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on September 30, 1960, Fah Pow was a son of Yeam Shoon Liew and Park Yeun Yeong Liew. He made his career as a business program manager with the DuPont Company, where he was employed and respected for his team leadership and work ethic for 25 years.

An avid outdoorsman, Fah Pow enjoyed camping, fishing, biking and skiing. He and his wife, Shannon spent many happy hours together hiking throughout Colorado, Alaska and the Grand Canyon. He liked to boogie all night and there wasn’t a dance competition that he didn’t take home first prize. He was a devout Catholic and recently became a parishioner of St. Margaret of Scotland Church with the chosen Confirmation name of St. Nicholas. Known by family and friends as the baby whisperer, Fah Pow adored children. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend to many and will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Yeam Shoon and a brother, Fah Choong Liew. He is survived by his wife, Shannon Maureen Liew; mother, Park Yeun; son, Devin; daughter, Roisin; siblings, Fah Kong Liew, Fah Shin Liew, Fah Onn Liew, Dhee Min Liew-Beven, Chee Cheen Bo and Chee Ling Ham, all of Malaysia, where he was lovingly called David.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5pm until 7pm on Thursday evening, March 19, 2015 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Friday morning, March 20, 2015, at St. Margaret of Scotland R.C. Church, 2431 Frazer Road, Newark, DE 19702. Interment will be held privately in All Saints Cemetery, Wilmington, DE.

    Rest in Peace my Friend. I am glad I got know you and share many fun times. From skiing to camping – thank you. I still have the Latern you gave us 20 years ago. I will miss you greatly but will cherish many great memories.

  • FahPow was a very warm. loving & funny person who was loved by all whom meet him, he was a dear friend to my sister Elaine & brother in law Frank, our family loved having him with us during his college days for Christmas at our parents home, prayers are beng sent for his family. RIP FahPow
