Frances Davidson Craig, age 94, of Wilmington, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, November 15, 2016.

A native Delawarean, Frances was born in Wilmington on New Years Eve, 1921, and was a daughter of the late Thomas A. and Mabel F. (Blest) Davidson. She was a graduate of Wilmington High School and it was there that she would meet her future husband, Powell E. Craig, Jr. Frances made her career with the DuPont Company where she worked as an executive secretary, retiring after many years of dedicated service.

A woman of strong faith, she was one of the 56 founding members of Limestone Presbyterian Church. Frances was a longtime member of the DuPont Country Club where she made many friends. In their younger years, she and Powell spent many happy hours dancing and the couple especially liked square dancing together. Following her retirement, Frances enjoyed traveling with her family. Whether she was babysitting, attending school or sporting events or splashing in the pool with them, she adored her grandchildren, nieces and nephews and looked forward to every minute she spent in their company.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Powell who died in 1971; daughter, Mabel “Sandy” Craig-Legg; and brother, Thomas Davidson. Frances is survived by her daughters, Frances C. Griffith and her husband, the Rev. John Griffith of Owensboro, KY and Martha C. “Marty” Tolmie and her husband, Steve of Newark; sister, Shirley Davidson-Stewart of Newark; 8 grandchildren; many great and great great grandchildren; and many special nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am on Tuesday morning, November 22, 2016 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where a funeral service will be held at 11:00 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
