Frances J. Brown, age 79, of Millsboro, DE, passed away on Friday, March 11, 2016.

Born in Philadelphia, PA on January 13, 1937, Mrs. Brown was the daughter of the late Lee and Frances (Niefer) Hawkins. As a young woman, she was a member of the USO and also worked for the IRS. While raising her six children, Mrs. Brown served as secretary for the Kingswood United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, L. Ross; son, Ross; grandson, Jesse; granddaughter, Kali; and sister, Helen Haase. She is survived by her son, Cameron Brown (Kathleen); daughters, Marcia Boutin (Brian), Leigh Annand; Lauren Brown and Valerie Snook (Jeff); brothers, Leroy Hawkins, Donald Hawkins (Mary Lou), Ralph Hawkins (Joyce); sister, Marilynn Toomey (John); 8 grandchildren; and 7 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Monday morning, March 14, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10 am. Interment will follow at 1 pm in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 26669 Patriots Way, Millsboro, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Brown’s memory may be made to the Food Bank of Delaware, 14 Garfield Way, Newark, DE 19713 or the Sunday Breakfast Mission, 110 N. Poplar St., Wilmington, DE 19801 or Lifecall, Several Sources Shelters, P.O.Box 157, Ramsey, NJ 07446.
