Francesco “Franco” Bufo, age 84, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 30, 2016.
Born in Italy on September 8, 1932, he was the son of the late Angelo and Anna Maria Bufo. Franco was the co-owner Nick and Joe’s Pizza for many years, where he shared his love of cooking with the countless patrons he served.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Rosa (Suglia) Bufo; son, Angelo Bufo; sister, Maria Bufo; brother, Vincenti Bufo; and brother-in-law, Juan Suglia. Franco is survived by his grandsons, Francesco and Angelo Bufo; daughter-in-law, Sandra Bufo; brothers, Vittorio Bufo and Antonio Bufo (Maria); sister, Stella Bufo; sisters-in-law, Idalia Bufo, Veronica Diomede (Giovanni), Anna Ferreyra (Ramon), Margherita Renna (Domenico) and Maria Arbuet (Juan); brothers-in-law, Gaetano Suglia (Angela), Nicola Suglia (Jackie) and Lorenzo Suglia (Nora); and many nieces and nephews.
A visitation for family and friends will be held from 3 pm to 5 pm and again from 7 pm until 9 pm on Friday, November 4, 2016 and from 8 am until 9 am on Saturday morning, November 5, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Saturday morning, November 5th at Holy Family R.C. Church, East Chestnut Hill and Gender Roads, Newark, DE. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
Summer lane
I visited Mr. Bufo at least once a week at Newcastle health, even if just for a quick hello! I don’t know how well we understood each other but he always gave me a smile that lit up his whole face. I pray he’s at peace and maybe making pizza for the angels! I will miss his smile. Prayers to the Bufo family in this difficult time.
