Francis F. Haslam, Jr., age 78, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 in the presence of his loved ones.

Francis was employed by Slocomb Industries for over 25 years. He continued working as a handy man and became a jack of all trades.

He was a loving husband and caring father, an avid fan of NASCAR, enjoyed spending time at Delaware Park, and loved to play pinochle.

He was preceded in death by his daughters, Brenda Haslam and Irene Haslam, sons, Randall Haslam and Donald Bullock, and step-son, Anthony Rapposelli. Francis is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Ruth Haslam; daughters, Tina McCall and Donna Conran; step-children, Vincent Rapposelli, Sharon Wilcox, Perry Rapposelli, Michael Raposelli, and Patricia Wolynetz; daughter-in-law, Lucy Rapposelli; brothers, Horace Haslam, Joseph Haslam, and Buddy Haslam; sister, Gladys Smilyk; 24 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 10 am until 11:30 am on Monday morning, January 27, 2014 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 12 Noon on Monday, January 27, 2014, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Delaware Hospice, 16 Polly Drummond Center, 2nd Floor, Newark, DE 19711.

  • Dear Haslam Family, My wife and I are sorry to hear of the loss of your dear love one. We know this is a difficult time for you. We want to share something with you that comforts us during times like these. It is comforting to know that God never meant for us to experience the pain of losing a love one.(Romans 5:12)(James 1:13) He has made provisions through his son Jesus to awaken all our love ones who have died.(John11:25) (John 5:28,29) God has also promised to wipe out all tears,pain,sorrow and death forever.(Revelation 21:4,5) These promises in the Bible will soon be a reality.(Psalms 37:10,11&29) They give us hope and comfort knowing that we will see our love ones again. Your family are in our prayers and we hope you find peace and comfort in God’s promises for the future.
