Francis Russell Albanese, Sr.

Born November 17, 1934

Francis Russell Albanese, Sr., age 78, a lifelong Delawarean of New Castle, DE passed away peacefully surrounded by his loved ones in the comfort of his home on Wednesday, November 6, 2013.
Born on November 17, 1934 in Wilmington, DE, he was the son of the late Michael and Monnolia Albanese.
Franny dedicated 31 years with Phoenix Steel as a millwright. He later worked at Reliable Warehouse services for 10 years, as well as maintained a second job as a taxi driver. Franny had a strong work ethic and will always be remembered as a hard worker.
He was an avid Delaware Park horse racing fan and enjoyed visiting the slots, where he enjoyed meeting with his posse every day. In his spare time, he also enjoyed fishing and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren. As a gentle and kind man who would do anything for anyone, he will be dearly missed by all who were blessed to know him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, George Anthony Albanese; two sisters, Laura Calloway and Betty Morley and a brother, Michael Albanese.
Franny leaves many fond memories to his four children, Francis R. Albanese, Jr., Elizabeth Missey Benson (Paul), Thomas G. Albanese and Annette M. Marcotte (Glenn); two sisters, Veronica Albanese and Tuzz Gibson; a brother, John Albanese; ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Francis’ life will be held 2 pm on Monday, November 11 at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where friends may visit from 1:00 until 2:00 pm. Interment will be private.
Flowers are welcome or memorial contributions may be made to Compassionate Care Hospice, 11 Independence Way, Newark, DE 19713.

Its going to be so weird not seeing you everyday backing into the driveway after your Delaware Park daily trip 🙁 I’m going to miss carrying your groceries in and checking your door to make sure you didn’t leave the keys in it..I’m going to miss you period.
