Mr. Frank Tait, age 62, of Newark, DE, died on Thursday, July 29, 2010.
A dedicated and gifted science teacher, Mr. Tait retired from Gunning Bedford Middle School in 2000. He was active with the Delaware Nature Society, the Delaware Orchid Society, the Schola Cantorum of the University of Delaware, the Brandywiners, the State Science Olympiad, the Delaware Teachers of Science, and the Delaware Aquarium Society. In 1966, at Cheyney University, he was initiated into the Gamma Omicron Chapter and remained active in the local Graduate Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity.
He was a longtime member of St. Thomas More Oratory, where he was a frequent soloist in the 9:30 choir. In recent years, he and his Scottie, Trouble, brought great joy and comfort to many at the Helen F. Graham Cancer Center.
He is survived by his wife, Donna (Rossi) Tait; son, Jason Tait and his wife, Jennifer; grandson, Oliver Tait; sisters, Theresa Bitzer and her husband, John, and Anne Marie Cobb and her husband, Ronnie; nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Ryan, Amanda, and Jeremy; and great nieces and nephews, Sam, Owen, Zoe, Jada, Zachary, Alyssa, and Anthony. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward James Tait and Ann Catherine Gallagher Tait.
Visitation will be held from 5 pm to 7 pm on Tuesday, August 3, 2010, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 am on Wednesday, August 4, 2010, at St. Thomas More Oratory, 45 Lovett Avenue, Newark, DE. Interment will held privately at All Saints Cemetery in Wilmington.
