Fred S. Suloff
Mr. Fred S. Suloff, age 94, of Bear, DE, died on Tuesday, July 19, 2011, at Christiana Hospital.
Mr. Suloff was born in Rosedale, PA, on May 20, 1917, one of eleven children of the late Edward S. Suloff and Ida Cecelia Ressler Suloff. He married the love of his life, his wife of 74 years, Agnes C. Smiley Suloff, on April 8, 1936.
A man of humble beginnings, Mr. Suloff was the model of the American dream. Through hard work, determination, and ingenuity, he established his own very successful plumbing firm, Fred S. Suloff Plumbing, Inc., which he operated for many years until his retirement. One of the most important life lessons he was careful to teach his children and grandchildren was the great pride that comes from earning your own living by diligent and superior work. Among his professional affiliations, he was a member and past president of the Pennsylvania chapter of the Plumbing, Heating, and Cooling Contractors Association.
Mr. Suloff believed strongly in giving back to the community. As a firefighter, Rotarian, Mason, and Little League coach, he was a respected leader and volunteer in the Boothwyn area. He was also a devout Christian and a longtime member of Red Lion United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved Agnes in 2010, daughters, Elaine S. Hutchinson and Judith C. Long, and son-in-law, Daniel Hutchinson. He is survived by his son-in-law, William H. Long III (Joanne); grandchildren, Alice Blodgett (Donald), Virginia Allen (Gordon), Christina Williams (Roger), Daniel S. Hutchinson, Derek Hutchinson (Jessica) and Carolyn Thomas (Richard); and great grandchildren, Frederick Pearson, Jr. (Courtney), Stephen Pearson, Taylor Hutchinson, Max Hutchinson, Alexandra Allen, Gordon Allen, Donald Blodgett III, Emily Blodgett, Erin Blodgett, Elaine M. Hutchinson, Aubrey Hutchinson, Kendall Hutchinson, Bennett Hutchinson, Richard Thomas, and Michael Thomas.
The family extends their sincere gratitude to Shelly Johnson and Bob Foster for the great love and care shown to Mr. Suloff during his illness.
A funeral service will be held at 12:30 pm on Friday, July 22, 2011, at the Red Lion United Methodist Church, 1545 Church Road, Bear, DE. Interment will be held privately.
