16 Condolences for Frederick F. Long, Jr.

  • Our hearts are with Kathy, Carl, and the entire family. Such losses are so, so difficult to understand.

  • Fred was my brother-in-law, and I regret that California was so far from Fred & Kathy’s home. However, Pat & I were fortunate to tough out 9/11 together with Fred & Kathy in Delaware during that historic and terrible tragedy, Fred was a rock for us at that time. He gave us a tour of his favorite black powder rifles and even gave us a look at his many first-place awards for sharp-shooting. I shall never forget Fred, though I wish I had been able to be with him more often. I shall see him in heaven, however. (Jerry)

Fred was a true old-fashioned “gentleman” and a true New Englander. He loved the water and the woods of his home state and found deep satisfaction in all it had to offer. He had an innate humility, and practical wisdom. I always thought it fortunate that his job matched his skills.
Thank you Fred, for loving my sister and her boys. Thank you for the tender heart that rescued many a stray kitty or dog. You restored life to them and cared for each for as long as they needed.
We rest in peace because you do now also. Until we meet again…. Pat

  • I’m going to miss you buddy. Even though when we competed on the range sometimes you beat me.
But besides all that it was fun. I’ve told a couple stories about you to some of the folks that knew us both.
My thought go out to Cathy and the boys, and to all the family.
    Love to you all.

  • My dear Friends, thank you for your lovely note and for your dear friendship.

  • Thank you, Rob, for being with us in spirit. It is truly difficult to lose someone within a year to such a disease, cancer. Praying for a miracle cure for everyone else!

  • Dear Kathy,
Charley and I were shocked and saddened to see Fred’s obit in the paper! Where did the years go? I remember the good times we had at the Sudlersville Muzzle Loading Shoots – you and I in the kitchen while the boys were on the range. Your devotion to Fred was very touching. I know you will miss him – a fine and caring man. With affection and sympathy, Ann

My best recollections of Fred are mostly at our club meetings and shoots, many years ago. Fred was a good shooter and he and I would pass the State Championship back and forth for a number of years. He was always a good natured and true gentleman, under all circumstances, and treasured you and Carl. I consider him one of the finest persons I have known. We shall miss his quiet ways. With my deepest sympathy, Charley
P.S. If you are ever down this way, we’d love to see you.

  • Fred was a wonderful friend. You could always tell when he was in a room from his laugh. Sympathy to Kathy & your great sons.

  • It’s so good to hear from you, Gary, and read your kind words. Fred thought so much of you, and we did have fun together on those rare occasions at the shows. Love to Jacquie

  • Dear Kathy,

We were so sorry to read about Fred’s passing. Ernie and I remember him well, and it’s so hard to think of Fred, as lively as he was, being ill. Our hearts go out to you and your family. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you all.

  • Dear Carl, my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. GOD BLESS YOU
