Genevieve T. Stanley, age 89, of Newark, DE, passed away peacefully at home, while surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 17, 2015.

Genevieve was born in Harrisonburg, VA on June 3, 1926 and was a daughter of the late Clarence Tinsley and Grace (Droval) Tinsley. She provided gentle and loving care to many as the owner and operator of a home-based adult day care service.

Genevieve was a longtime member of the Red Lion Evangelical Church in Bear, DE. In her leisure time, she enjoyed bowling and shopping. Genevieve was an avid traveler and especially adored the time she spent vacationing in Europe. She was happiest in the company of her family and friends, sharing long conversations and many fond memories.

In addition to her parents, Genevieve was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James R. Stanley who passed away in 1997; brothers, Guy and Benny Tinsley; and a sister, Maxine Critzer. She is survived by her daughter, Carolyn Thompson and husband, Roger with whom she lived; grandchildren, David Thompson and Bonnie Wagner (Bill); and great grandchildren, David (Sarah), Nicole, Billy (Danielle), Jody and Jamie.

A funeral service will be held at 10 am on Saturday morning, October 24, 2015, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 9 am until 10 am. Interment will follow in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
