George Daniel Null

Born October 28, 1926

George Daniel Null, age 89, of Oxford, PA, passed away on Tuesday, December 1, 2015.

Born in Taneytown, MD on October 28, 1926, George was a son of the late Hubert Jacob and Gladys (Zepp) Null. He attended Taneytown High School and later received his bachelors of science from Gettysburg College and his masters and doctorate degrees from the University of Delaware. He made his career as a research chemist with the DuPont Company, retiring in 1985 after 27 years of service.

George was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Newark and the IH Tractor Club. He had many interests including farming, baseball, steam locomotives, Bach pipe organ music and poetry. Beloved by his family, his kind nature and radiant smile will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathleen; brother, Charles Null; and sister, Mary Garver. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Estelle (Hess) Null; sons, Michael, Daniel and Samuel Null; sister, Vesta Reifsnider; and several grandchildren and great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Monday morning, December 7, 2015, at the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 701 S. College Avenue, Newark, DE 19711, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Compassionate Friends, Inc., Southern Chester County Chapter, P.O. Box 275, New London, PA 19360-0275 or to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at the address listed above.

I can not express how much I will miss George here in the physical world, but knowing that he is at peace and with our girls is of great comfort to me, as I know it is for you. He was very positive thru the days of AGLL and high school sports when we played. I just wanted to let you know how sorry I am to hear that he pass away. I know he is in heaven now with your sister.
