George Gott, Sr.
Mr. George Bud Gott, Sr., age 75, of New Castle, DE, died on Tuesday, January 11, 2011, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
A native Delawarean, Mr. Gott was born in New Castle on August 6, 1935, son of the late Edward Gott and Margaret McCarty Gott. He proudly served his country in the US Air Force and would later transfer to the Delaware Air National Guard and, finally, the Delaware Army National Guard, where he retired as a Sergeant First Class.
In civilian life, he earned his business degree from Goldey-Beacom College and was employed as a lab technician and sales representative with the DuPont Company for 27 years.
Active in his community, Mr. Gott was a member of Our Lady of Fatima parish, the Knight of Columbus, and the Korean War Veterans Association. In his leisure hours, he greatly enjoyed target shooting and cheering for his favorite team, the Eagles. He was also an avid and knowledgeable history buff. Most of all, he was a devoted family man who delighted in spending time with his beloved wife, children, and grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Joanne Cook Gott; sons, George Bud Gott, Jr. of New Castle, John Gott of Hilton Head, SC, and Edward Gott and wife, Karrie, of New Castle; brother, Jack Gott of New Castle; and his beloved grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, and Tyler. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Michael Gott, and siblings, Edward Gott, Frank Gott, and Marie Gott.
Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 1 pm on Monday, January 17th, at Our Lady of Fatima R.C. Church, 801 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, where visitation will begin at 11 am. A committal service will be held at 10 am on Tuesday, January 18th, at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear.
