George Henry Lee Herron

George Henry Lee Charlie Brown Herron, age 76, of Newark, Delaware, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2014 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family.

Born on April 25, 1938 in Brownsville, PA, he was the son of the late Anna L. Herron and Lee Herron. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Herron.

Lee attended California High School in California, Pennsylvania and later attended Cleveland State College in Ohio. He then enlisted in the Army Reserves.

Lee worked for Cleveland Frog and Crossing Company in Ohio and in 1975 relocated to Delaware where he worked for Pettibone as regional manager. He later started his own company, Herron R.O.I. Supply.

Lee absolutely loved swimming in his pool and spending time with his four grandchildren. He enjoyed watching football and his family is curious to see how the Eagles will perform without Lee yelling at them through the television.

He was a member of the Newark County Club for 20 years, the Cleveland Romers, Knights of Columbus, Elks Club, N.Y. Railroad Club, Metropolitan R.R. Club and Holy Angels R.C. Church.

Lee leaves many cherished memories to his loving wife of 57 years, Michelle Herron; daughters, Lesa Olivere and Vicki Pelletier; a sister, Margret Ann Blazus; grandchildren, Jade and Nolan Olivere and Grayson and Liana Pelletier, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday morning, September 25, 2014 at Holy Angels R.C. Church, 82 Possum Park Road, Newark, DE. Friends may visit with Lee’s family from 6:00-8:00 pm on Wednesday evening, September 24, 2014 at Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 121 W. Park Place, Newark, DE. Interment will be private.

  • With Lee’s passing my wife Sheila and I have lost an exceptionally close friend who we will sorely miss. As regular golf mates Lee and I played literally hundreds of rounds of golf together at NCC and a host of other courses in the tri-state area over the last twenty-five plus years. We watched many an Eagles’ game together and shared many experiences and memories. We offer our condolences to Michelle, Leesa, and Vicki who we consider to be an extension of our own family. – Eric (and Sheila) –

  • Lesa and Vicki,

It is with much sadness that I learn of the loss of your Dad. You are both amazing women — he and your Mom have much to be proud of and I am sure that they are. I have so many fond memories of hanging out at your parents’ house– your Dad always with a joke or showing his great sense of humor in other ways. I will miss him ladies, and I will always remember him with a smile on my face. I wish you both peace and happiness as you cherish in his loving memories.

    With Love,
    Kim Raff
