George J. Rambo

George J. Rambo, age 95, of Milford, DE and formerly of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Delaware Veterans Home, where he had resided for the last four years.

Born in Wilmington, Delaware on November 26, 1918, Mr. Rambo was the son of the late Elmer Rambo and Nellie Wallace Rambo. He was a proud WWII veteran of the US Army, serving in the European, African and the Middle Eastern campaigns with Signal Brigade 91st Signal Company and received several service medals for his bravery. Mr. Rambo made his career with the DuPont Company and worked as an instrument mechanic at the Edgemoor plant, retiring after 42 years of service.

An avid supporter of veterans everywhere, he was a life member of the VFW. Mr. Rambo was a devoted and loving family man who will be dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 65 years, Dortha B. (Sowers) Rambo. Mr. Rambo is survived by his daughter, Peggy J. Donofrio and husband Albert of Bear, DE; granddaughters, Jeanie and Janis Donofrio; great granddaughters, Gianna and Angelina; and sister, Edith Bleacher.

Services and interment were held privately.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be sent to the Delaware Veterans Home, 100 Delaware Veterans Boulevard, Milford, DE 19963.
