George M. Webb

George M. Webb, age 86, of New Castle, DE, passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 12, 2016.

Born in Baltimore, MD on June 3, 1929, Mr. Webb was a son of the late Martin and Emma (Gifford) Webb. He proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. A skilled crane operator by trade, Mr. Webb made his career with Westinghouse in Lester, PA, retiring after 30 years of dedicated service.

He was a member of the former Rose Hill Vets Club in New Castle and the Police Fire Rod & Gun Club in Swanwyck. Mr. Webb enjoyed traveling to the beach and spent many happy times there. He will be remembered as a devoted and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and will be very dearly missed.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Webb was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine Hoffman. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Joan E. (Watkins) Webb; sons, Ronald Webb (Sylvia) of Bear, DE, Gary Webb of Delaware City, DE, Larry Webb (Roxanne) of Milford, DE and George Webb (Melanie) of New Castle, DE; brother, Robert Webb of Orlando, FL; 7 grandchildren; and 2 great grandchildren.

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the entire staff of the Heartland Hospice House for the exceptional care they provided to Mr. Webb during his time there.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Friday morning, May 20, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will be held privately.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Webb’s memory may be made to Heartland Hospice, 256 Chapman Rd., Ste. 102, Newark, DE 19702.
