George R. Stidham

April 9, 1925 - February 2, 2016

George R. Stidham, 90, passed away on Tuesday, February 2, 2016 at the home of his daughter and son-in-law; Vicki and Don Paisley. George was raised in Warwick, MD. He was the son of the late Harold and Stella Stidham.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy; daughter, Sharon Eckman-Seibold of Epherta, PA, granddaughter, Dawn Davis-Carter of Newark, sisters, Betty Price of Warwick, MD, and Florence Clay of Middletown, DE.

George is survived by his daughter, Vicki Paisley (Don); granddaughter Tress Ann Todd (Jerry); great granddaughter, Emily; great grandson, Stephen; brother-in-law, Carl Speorl; and a host of nieces and nephews.

George proudly served his country during WWII with the Army Air Corps 20th Air Force on the Island of Saipan, as a member of the 873rd Bomb Group. He was honorably discharged in 1946. George retired from the State of Delaware, New Castle County Motor Vehicle Driver’s License Department in 1987. He loved playing poker with his many friends from Middletown, DE. George also loved going to Delaware Park to play the simulcast horse races with his friends. He was a member of the VFW, Middletown Post 3792, and a life member of the Volunteer Hose Company of Middletown. A special thanks is extended to Season’s Hospice staff for their support and compassionate care during this difficult time.

A funeral service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, February 9, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home of Newark, 121 West Park Place, Newark, DE where a visitation will be held from 11:00-12 noon. Interment will take place on Wednesday Morning, February 10, 2016 at 11:00 in the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE.
