George Rayfield Welch

George Rayfield Welch, age 98, of Smyrna, DE, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 16, 2016.
He retired from the DuPont Company in December, 1979 after working at the Chambers Works Plant for many years.
George was preceded in death by his wife, Mary E. (Broadbent) Welch, who died in 2000 and brother, Clinton S. Welch. He is survived by his son, G. Richard Welch, Sr. (Dehra); daughter, Carol L. Baird (Larry); sister-in-law, Shirley Broadbent; grandsons, G. Richard Welch, Jr. (Stephanie) and Neil Welch (Marsha); granddaughters, Anne Welch, Barbara Prichard (Jeff) and Linda Burriesci (Sal); 10 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held at 11 am on Wednesday morning, January 20, 2016, at the Spicer-Mullikin Funeral Home, 1000 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11 am. Interment will follow in Silverbrook Cemetery, Lancaster Ave. and DuPont Rd., Wilmington, DE.
