Born October 2, 1951

Gerald Thomas Louth, age 63, of Elkton, MD, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 16, 2015, at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore.

Gerald was born in Wilmington, Delaware on October 2, 1951, to Francis H. and Rena E. Louth, Jr. He served in the US Navy as a fireman aboard the USS Forestall from 1970 until 1973. Following his discharge from the Navy, Gerald worked as a carpenter for many years with Porter Building Supplies, until he became disabled. He loved his trips to the Rehoboth Beach, along with fishing and Grottos pizza.

In addition to his mother, Gerald was preceded in death by his brother, James. He is survived by his father, Francis, Jr.; sister, Carol Ann; brother, Francis, son, Eric Sherman (Heather); daughter, Jennifer Buckley (Brendan); and grandchildren, Chloe, Amber, Brooklyn and Chase.

A committal service will be held at 11 am on Thursday morning, February 26, 2015, at the chapel of the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 2465 Chesapeake City Road, Bear, DE, where interment will follow.

  • It’s hard to believe you are no longer here. I miss our phone calls, and your bi/weekly visits. We have share a lot with each other. I miss you a lot. Sometimes I feel as though you are in the car with me coming into Elkton in the mornings. Anna Is doing well. It’s hard for her. I know in my heart your in a better place. No more pains. And Mom and Jimmy are showing you the ropes. Dad misses you as well. He is losing some weight. It’s still hard for him to except losing all Three of you’s in just 4 years.
