Geraldine “Gerri” Smith

January 9, 1940 - March 14, 2018

Geraldine Gerri Smith, age 78, of Bear, DE, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018.

Born in Metter, GA on January 9, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Benny and Eula Mae (Bryant) Myers.  Gerri worked for Leon’s Upholstery in New Castle for 20 years.  She later dedicated her time as a home health care provider and was last employed by the Biden family for nine years.

Gerri loved spending time with her family, gardening and tending to her birdfeeders.

Gerri will be dearly missed by her beloved husband of 54 years, Robert C. Butch Smith; children, Stephen Smith (Bridget), Melissa Smith and Matthew Smith; grandchildren, Adam Smith, Connor Smith, Kelsey Cummings (Bryan), Allyson Nicholson, Scott Nicholson, and Brianna Smith; brother, Billy Myers; sisters, Athielee Davis and Annette Holley; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 am until 11am on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the chapel in Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 North DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE, where a funeral service will begin at 11 am.  Interment will immediately follow.
